Guidebook "Exotic Diversity"

Author &
Biography

Otto Krüger is an author and passionate horticultural expert on tropical and subtropical plants and fruit trees with many years of professional experience.

For decades, he has devoted himself intensively to the planting, acclimatisation and care of exotic plants in the Mediterranean region, especially on the sun-drenched Spanish coast. His comprehensive guidebook “Exotic Diversity” is the result of this extensive practical experience and his deep enthusiasm for the lush diversity of tropical and subtropical flora.

From passion
to publication

Otto Krüger’s expertise is based not only on theoretical studies, but also on countless field trials, practical work and project work. This has given him a deep, well-founded understanding of how tropical and subtropical species adapt successfully to the specific and sometimes changeable conditions of the Mediterranean climate, and of how they can withstand challenges such as water scarcity, strong sunlight, ‘difficult’ soils and occasional frost.

With his guidebook “Exotic Diversity,” Otto Krüger aimed to convey his knowledge in a comprehensible, practical, and technically precise manner. His book “Exotic Diversity” impresses with its attention to detail and a palpable respect for the environment. It contains carefully researched, detailed information, high-quality plant portraits, and well-founded sections on key topics such as soil improvement, irrigation, fertilization, and plant protection. All of this testifies to his high standards of completeness and quality of information.

The values that matter
in the garden and in the book.

All of his work – from the first planting experiment to the finished book – rests on a solid foundation of clear principles:

  • Precision: The work combines scientific accuracy with decades of horticultural experience to guarantee content of the highest quality and reliability.
  • Passion: An authentic enthusiasm for the plant world drives the author to constantly gain new insights and share this knowledge.
  • Sustainability: The focus is on methods that promote the responsible use of natural resources and the long-term health of the soil.
  • Inspiration: Readers should be encouraged to break new ground in their own gardens in order to discover and successfully cultivate the enormous diversity of nature.

The mission: to make sound, proven knowledge about tropical fruit trees accessible worldwide and to inspire people with the beauty and fertility of exotic diversity.
